Public Service Management, Taiwan
RIPA International provided this bespoke training programme for 37 senior managers from a wide range of diverse Taiwanese Ministries and other central government organisations, including two supervisors.
This programme was put together to reflect the different interests of a diverse group of people and was successful in covering the vast majority of subject areas identified.
The programme was a success in:
• Introducing participants to the UK system of government
• Explaining human resource and performance management in the UK civil service
• Illustrating techniques in policy development and co-ordination, with particular relevance to crisis management and contingency planning
• Exposing participants to a range of analytical tools
• Demonstrating best practice in civil service learning and development
As part of the personalised learning approach to the programme each delegate completed a Personal Learning Diary, recording each day’s key learning points together with an indication of how he or she might put these into practice in Taiwan.
This exercise indicated that a very wide range of information, experience and skills covered during the programme had been retained.
Participants were able to return to work and apply their knowledge of stakeholder analysis, evidence-based policymaking, policy coordination, crisis management, putting policy into practice, and change management.
