Overview:

Why is there so much crime? Why do some people commit crime while others lead law abiding lives? What is the impact of crime within the community? How can crime be reduced or prevented? What can you learn from UK initiatives for justice in the community and rehabilitating these people?

This workshop explores the latest approaches in the UK aimed at achieving greater involvement of the community in the justice system, in order to support and sustain a society in which all citizens, whatever their health, wealth, religion or ethnicity, feel a sense of belonging and trust in the system. These initiatives will be explored through a combination of presentations, workshops and field visits.

You will learn about strategies to ensure greater collaboration between public authorities and other organisations to develop and implement effective solutions. The emphasis throughout the workshop will be on pragmatic strategies for implementing real and lasting change.
