Over the last decade, justice systems have been subjected to unprecedented change. Increased emphasis is now placed upon effective case flow management with the objectives of reducing delay and cost and increasing access to justice. A key challenge in successfully implementing such strategies is to secure the cooperation of the many agencies involved in the administration of justice.
This one-week workshop is designed to provide a concise, comprehensive overview of recent reforms to the justice system in England and Wales which have sought to reduce delay and to bring greater efficiency to court administration procedures. The workshop offers an opportunity for judges, magistrates, court administrators and other justice system professionals to design a case management regime that meets the needs of their own jurisdictions.
The workshop is intended to equip participants with the skills needed to plan and implement changes aimed at reducing delay, and in turn to build public confidence in their justice system’s overall capacity and capability.
