Government and commercial businesses face real problems in having key messages distorted through the lens of an ever-rapacious media. All too frequently, policy initiatives and ‘good news’ get subsumed by inaccuracy, gossip and rumour. Unwarranted and ensuing criticism can be highly damaging to individuals, groups of officials and in some cases, entire institutions.
In such circumstances, it is essential that your organisation’s message is transmitted confidently, clearly, simply and effectively in order that it reaches the end-user (the public/key stakeholders) in an easily understood and accurate manner.
This course will hone the existing skills of people involved in managing their organisation’s communication channels and its reputation, and provide new techniques that can be applied to ensure daily dealings with journalists and media houses can deliver maximum benefit to your organisation.
We will look at the skills involved in creating effective messages for media dissemination and at the ways in which those messages can then be delivered clearly and effectively.
The course is intended to support middle-to-senior level communicators in government, the wider public service, as well as those working for commercial organisations, especially multi-national companies.
