Overview:

This programme explores the latest approaches here in the UK to achieving greater involvement of the community in the justice system to better support and sustain a society in which all citizens, whatever their health, wealth, religion or ethnicity, feel a sense of belonging and a sense of community. These initiatives will be explored through a combination of presentations, workshops and field visits. You will learn about strategies to ensure greater collaboration between public authorities and other organisations to develop and implement effective solutions. The emphasis throughout the course will be on pragmatic strategies for implementing real and lasting change.

You will be able to:
  • Gain an insight into new approaches and proven policies in access to justice by hearing from key organisation involved in this area as well as from national government departments and their executive agencies
  • Develop a range of strategies for achieving greater access to justice in your own country through an analysis of social inclusion policy and its implementation here in the UK
  • Plan and control the realisation of practical strategies for gaining greater community engagement
  • Analyse and critically explore existing problems before embarking on the implementation of solutions
