Leaders, especially those holding senior decision-making posts in government ministries, departments and agencies, are required to tackle significant challenges in today’s testing times; against a backdrop of necessary fiscal restraint and global financial uncertainty, leaders need to set strategic direction that takes account of a whole host of external factors that can affect their organsiation’s overall goals and mission.
Leaders need to demonstrably embody the vision they have been tasked to deliver; they need to seek to enhance and sustain organisational performance through a comprehensive review of current and future internal systems, processes and resources (especially in relation to their people). Many of the critical issues that today’s leaders face are universal, but the solutions that they need to find have to take into account the particular requirements, context, resources and culture of their own organisation. This course is intended to promote active learning that will offer opportunities for participants from a host of organisations, sectors and backgrounds, in a mutually supportive setting, to examine and reflect upon a diverse range of solutions, skills and techniques in contemporary approaches to leadership. It is a practically-oriented opportunity to introduce, develop or reinforce skills and techniques that will support and sustain each participant in further developing their overall leadership capabilities.
