Developing the capacity of organisations to absorb and respond to new challenges is crucial in today’s fluctuating political, social and economic climate. Indeed, it is the major challenge facing policy makers, leaders and senior managers, change agents and strategists in government when attempting to identify and effect significant change in support of their reform agendas.
This workshop will focus on two core elements essential for the development of a sound strategic framework in leading successful change:
- Change Leadership – the strategic analyses, processes and behaviours required to successfully lead an organisation, its staff and the wider society (government, agencies, communities and citizens) towards engagement, especially in support of national reform initiatives.
- Strategic planning – the analysis and use of strategic approaches to effectively plan for successful change, exploring the relative applicability or adaptability of these approaches to your own context, engaging key stakeholders from the outset.
In considering these two core areas, the course is designed to help leaders of change, organisational strategists, change agents and members of change teams to understand how to build realistic strategies as well as how to avoid the common mistakes that have been made by others.
During the workshop, participants will be introduced to new concepts and engage in exercises to understand key change models, theories and their practical implementation. Where participants are directly involved in change situations in their organisation, these will be identified and examined to provide concrete support in development planning as a key transferable learning activity.
