Overview:

The professional development of staff is critical to the efficient operation and growth of any department, government or organisation. Workforces need to be capable and responsive, and also flexible and robust enough to cope with the major economic challenges organisations and societies continually face.

 

This programme sets out a package of techniques and measures for effective organisational and people management. It is designed to provide leaders, directors and senior managers, in both public and private sectors, with the opportunity to reflect and undertake a managerial ‘healthcheck’ with a view to improving their leadership strategies and abilities to manage efficiently and effectively. This is essential in achieving and sustaining organisational success.

 

We examine ways to develop and enhance high-performing teams and individuals, to better lead organisations and, importantly, how to tackle issues of motivation and attitude. We use examples from successful organisations, taking into account both organisation culture and the need to work effectively within available resources.

  • The different effects of monitoring and managing performance and productivity – using feedback, formal appraisal, coaching and mentoring
  • Developing a change strategy and setting strategic and personal goals
  • Understanding and managing resistance
  • Managing people through change by harnessing motivation, delegating appropriately and communicating openly
