Emergencies come in all shapes and sizes from flood and famine, earthquake or pandemic to the more mundane but none-the-less challenging local events – a building collapse, fire, rail crash or localised out-break of an infectious disease. With the growth in real-time global media, more and more citizens are aware of the emergency preparedness or otherwise of their own
governments, local authorities and large corporations, and how they often (under the glare of the media spotlight) struggle and fail to cope as literally, the body count rises.
Quite rightly, they ask the question: ‘Why in a world so accustomed to emergencies are so many with responsibility for the safety and lives of others so unprepared for it?’ Preparing to deal with national and local emergencies does not have to be
expensive. A simple, well thought out emergency plan, at a national or local level, can save lives and enhance reputations nationally and internationally. It is also something that citizens have come to expect as a necessary part of their government’s duties – an essential ingredient of modern governance.
RIPA International’s emergency planning workshop is designed to assist policy makers, strategists and emergency planners at national, regional and local levels to better understand the key strategic considerations in creating an effective emergency plan and how to effectively and efficiently respond in the event of an emergency.
Through a mixture of expert presentations, case studies and participant exercises, you will be taken through the stages of creating a plan to identify the crucial elements within the planning process and will gain the skills necessary to create or enhance your own ministry, department or organisation’s emergency plan.
