Overview:

‘We are all consultants now’ is one way of describing the changed role of the modern manager. In the public service it is no longer enough to have good administrative, communications and policy making skills. The modern manager must have the skills to analyse their organisation objectively and to fix critical weaknesses as soon as possible. This enables them to improve performance in services provided to stakeholders, be they internal to government or services provide to the community. These are skills that tend to be associated with management consultants.

This programme covers the core analytical skills used by consultants to help improve organisations. It thus meets the needs of a wide range of managers:

  • Those seeking to introduce their own programmes to improve performance
  • Those engaging consultants who are seeking to get better value for money from the assignments
  • Those working alongside consultants who wish to better understand how they work
  • Those wishing to pursue a career in consultancy within their organisation
