PRINCE2 is a non-proprietary project management method and has emerged worldwide as one of the most widely accepted methods for managing projects. This is largely due to the fact that PRINCE2 is truly generic; it can be applied to any project regardless of project scale, type, organization, geography or culture. PRINCE2 achieves this by isolating the management aspects of project work from the specialist contributions, such as design, construction, etc. The specialist aspects of any type of project are easily integrated with the PRINCE2 method and when used alongside PRINCE2, provide a secure overall
framework for the project work.
RIPA International’s PRINCE2 training course (led by our UK arm, Capita Learning and Development) is based on the 2009 edition of the PRINCE2 manual: Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2. This is an enjoyable but intensive course providing delegates with the knowledge of PRINCE2 as well as an opportunity to sit Foundation and Practitioner examinations, administered on behalf of Office of Government Commerce (OGC) by the APM Group Ltd (APMG).
The course will provide delegates with the ability to plan, monitor, delegate and control the project performance, using the PRINCE2 method. To do this, delegates will understand the four integrated elements of principles, themes, processes and tailoring PRINCE2 in a project environment; delegates will then be able to test their understanding and competency, by sitting the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner examinations.
We recommend that participants who wish to undertake the PRINCE2 programme have some direct experience of acting as a project team member or of managing a project as part of their current or previous responsibilities – this will be particularly critical for the practitioner component of the programme. For the individual, the rewards of attending this programme are a world recognised qualification which is now a mandatory requirement for UK senior government staff involved in project management. For their organisation, the investment in sponsoring your staff will immediately show itself through enabling a qualified, practically-focused and equipped individual to tangibly support your organisation’s project goals and objectives.
