Course ref: 10HEALTH

Overview:

The aim of this workshop is to enable participants to understand, design and implement organisation strategies to achieve more effective healthcare. The workshop has been designed with a clear understanding of the context for health care in international development. It addresses relevant learning needs, enabling participants to respond more creatively to the environment and concerns that they experience. Case studies drawn from developed and developing countries will illustrate strategies that meet changing requirements and expectations and deliver effective care.

Participants will learn how health strategies are compiled and what they contain. Models and theories will be used to illustrate how strategic thinking can be developed by healthcare leaders using knowledge held in organisation systems. While recognising contrasting approaches to strategy the programme will focus on, and develop skills which foster, individual and organisational learning in healthcare environments.

The workshop will develop implementation skills. It will illustrate systems for identifying and managing risks that could impede the achievement of strategic health objectives. It will identify key information requirements for monitoring progress and explore systems of clinical governance.
