Information is the life blood of any organisation, yet every organisation struggles to find what it needs and manage what it knows. In today’s world, getting the right information to the right person at the right time should be easy. Data handling protocols, knowledge management strategies, collaborative working arrangements, electronic document and records management systems are all approaches to achieving this deceptively simple objective. All have a contribution to make but none are a solution in themselves. This course presents modern approaches to managing mixed media information resources and will provide participants with practical tools and methods to implement sustainable records and information management systems within their own organisation. It will allow participants to benchmark their own systems against international standards and global best practice.
The approaches explored in this course can be used in government, commercial organisations and not-for-profit agencies to effectively manage information resources so that they support better service delivery and evidence-based decision-making.
On completion of this course, participants will receive one year’s membership to ACARM. Founded in 1984, The Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM) aim to promote professional development in the field of records and archive management throughout the Commonwealth.
